These terms govern access to and use of the website www.bankdetective.co.uk, published by EOSSEO SAS, whose details are in the legal notice. By using the site you accept these terms.

Last updated: 2 October 2026.

1. What the site is

BankDetective publishes comparison pages and information profiles about personal current accounts and banking services offered in the UK. Access is free and does not require registration.

2. Information, not advice

The content of the site is general information. It is not financial, tax or legal advice, and it is not a personal recommendation. You are responsible for checking that a product suits your situation before you take it out. You take out a product only on the provider’s own website, on its terms.

3. Accuracy and updates

The figures we publish come from each provider’s official documents, with the date they were checked. Providers change their terms without notice, and some time can pass between a change and its update on the site. Before you apply, read the information the provider must give you before you sign up. We correct reported errors as soon as we have checked them against the official source.

4. Affiliate links

Some links to providers’ websites are affiliate links. When you open an account through one of them, the provider pays a commission to EOSSEO. This costs you nothing and does not decide the order of the comparison pages or the assessments we give. The criteria are shown on each page. This disclosure follows the rules on unfair commercial practices in Part 4, Chapter 1 of the Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act 2024, which prohibit presenting paid promotion as independent editorial content without making that clear (section 225 and Schedule 20).

5. Deposit protection

Where the site mentions deposit protection, it refers to the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS). Since 1 December 2025, the FSCS limit has been £120,000 per eligible person, per bank, building society or credit union. Banks that share a banking licence count as one bank. Check the current rules on the FSCS website.

6. Links to third-party sites

The site contains links to the websites of banks, regulators and other third parties. EOSSEO does not control their content or their terms and is not responsible for them. Your use of those sites is governed by their own terms.

7. Intellectual property

The text, tables, comparison pages, ratings and graphics specific to the site belong to EOSSEO. You may read them and quote them briefly, naming the source and linking to the original page. Any other reproduction, systematic extraction or reuse without written permission is forbidden, including use to train automated systems. The names and logos of providers belong to their owners.

8. Use of the site

You agree to use the site lawfully and not to impair its operation: no large-scale automated access, no attempts to break in, no malicious code. EOSSEO may restrict access for anyone who does not follow these terms.

9. Liability

EOSSEO takes reasonable steps to keep the site available and the information accurate, but does not guarantee that it will be free of interruptions or errors. To the extent the law allows, EOSSEO is not liable for decisions you take based on the information published, or for losses arising from use of the site or from being unable to access it. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be excluded by law. Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer.

10. Personal data

How we process personal data and use cookies is described in the privacy policy.

11. Changes

EOSSEO may change these terms. The version that applies is the one published on the site when you visit, with its update date.

12. Governing law and courts

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you are a consumer, you may also bring proceedings in the courts of the part of the UK where you live.
